We are currently looking for a Training and Development Officer to join our team full-time at our Welshpool Depot in Perth. This is a fantastic opportunity for local candidates to join a dynamic and growing company.

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, & QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate will have:

  • Minimum two years’ experience in a similar role
  • Advanced Bus/ Coach driving capabilities and expertise.
  • Minimum Certificate III Training & Assessment or equivalent.
  • Western Australian HR Driver’s License.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to work well autonomously and within a team environment.
  • Intermediate computer literacy.

Horizons West is a Perth-based Bus and charter company that provides comprehensive transport solutions to various clients and industries. Responsibilities:

At Horizons West, safety is our top priority. The Training and Development Officer will play a crucial role in training, supporting, and guiding our Bus and Coach Drivers to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of charter services. The role is full-time, Monday through Friday, based at our Welshpool Depot. A competitive salary is available for a suitable candidate.

As a Training and Development Officer, your main responsibilities will include:

  • Support, engage, and empower bus drivers through structured onboarding, training & education procedures.
  • Deliver practical bus driver induction training for all bus drivers.
  • Develop, implement & execute an “On the Job” Training program for probationary Driving Personnel.
  • Conduct periodic Verification of Competency (VOC) examinations and Refresher Training with driving personnel to ensure safety, appearance, and service standards meet expectations.
  • Support Driving Personnel in reaching Improvement Objectives in support of any performance management regime.
  • Provide relevant information to drive the cohort’s behaviours and support the logistics manager in carrying out toolbox meetings.
  • Carry out annual reviews of all induction, training, and assessment procedures, materials, and other documentation.
  • Develop and promote a safety-conscious culture within the driving group.
  • Assist Operations Coordinators with daily planning/allocation of drivers and vehicles as required.
  • Direct drivers on route planning, locations, vehicle types and any operational queries.
  • Act as a site supervisor and coordinate vehicles, drivers, and passengers at large passenger movements.
  • Perform the duties of a bus and coach’s driver as required.
