We are actively seeking a Training & Competency Advisor to join our Calgary team, reporting to the Team Lead, HSER Projects & Data. The Training & Competency Advisor will work as part of the Safety Learning Team to help create and maintain the training & competency programs for our field locations. This position will engage with field operations to ensure the training & competency programs are effective and apply continuous improvement practices to ensure they meet organizational needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain competency programs for operational divisions.
  • Verify and approve external training providers
  • Provide input on corporate governance as it applies to training, and competency.
  • Write and maintain technical procedures and system processes for training purposes.
  • Maintain 3rd party course catalog of training courses
  • Work with external content developers to create custom content as required by the organization.
  • Lead projects related to LMS enhancements and upgrades
  • Provide logistical support for setting up in-person training as required across field offices
  • Train other administrative staff on LMS functionality
  • Reconcile course billing to appropriate cost centers
  • Maintain Training & Competency SharePoint site and materials
  • Support training request & intake processes, and perform gap assessments on potential training solutions
  • Maintain Learning inbox for end-user support

Qualifications:

  • 5 years’ experience in training or competency related roles
  • Exposure to Oil & gas operations would be an asset
  • Adult learning Certification would be an asset
