ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum level 4 qualification in regulated financial planning
  • Experience in financial services, particularly in a training and competency, supervision or financial planning role
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to engage and collaborate with a variety of stakeholders
  • Analytical and able to problem solve effectively
  • Confident coaching and training skills, in person on an individual basis, in groups and remotely using video conferencing technology

DESIRABLE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Level 3 training qualification and / or supervisory qualification (e.g. AF6)
  • Experience of Intelliflo an advantage
  • Knowledge of retail mortgages
  • Pension transfer specialist supervision experience

Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE:

As the Training & Competency Officer, you will play a vital role in ensuring the professional development and competence of our financial planners. You will support the delivery of comprehensive training programs and providing ongoing supervision and coaching to ensure that our team members have the knowledge, skills, and confidence to deliver excellent service to our clients.
You will collaborate closely with various stakeholders to identify training needs, develop training materials, and facilitate engaging learning experiences. From this, you will be support any competency assessments, providing constructive feedback with the Training & Competency Manager to help individuals progress in their roles. You will support with the monitoring of performance metrics and compliance standards to ensure that our team members are meeting or exceeding expectations and delivering good customer outcomes.
Finally, you will have a strong background in financial services and training, with a deep understanding of regulatory requirements and best practices in competency development. You should be a skilled communicator and mentor, able to inspire and motivate others to achieve their full potential. Additionally, you should have excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in our fast-paced environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Support the conduct mandatory competency assessments and developmental skills assessments using a variety of means including live and recorded meeting observations, role plays and “tell me how” interviews
  • Assist in thematic advice reviews and customer outcome assessments
  • Prepare quarterly supervision plans for financial planners to support performance management
  • Completing the design and delivery of coaching on an individual and group basis to support skills development for new and existing certified staff
  • Maintaining appropriate record keeping, reporting to the Head of Regulatory Risk engaging with stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of the Training and Competency Programme
  • Input into production of KPI reporting
  • Audit and report on CPD record-keeping
