Description:

The Training Consultant demonstrates knowledge in designing, developing, and delivery of high-level trainings on a variety of topics for employees. This role involves assisting with the training programs that align with the organization’s goals, representing the organizations mission and values, and leveraging advanced instructional design techniques and technologies. This role requires an individual with administrative and people skills, attention to detail, and a collaborative approach. The ideal candidate will have a general understanding of HR practices, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with other HR professionals and University leadership.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in their field of expertise, preferably in a higher education or similar environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline
  • A Master’s degree in a relevant discipline is preferred.
  • Additional certifications in their field of expertise is preferred.
  • Proven experience in designing, developing, and delivering engaging training programs and content for diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess training needs, evaluate program effectiveness, and adapt content accordingly.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to engage and inspire faculty and staff.

ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES ESSENTIAL TO THE FUNCTION OF THE JOB

  • Expertise in creating engaging, learner-centered training programs and materials tailored to diverse learning styles and needs.
  • Ability to understand, speak, and write English to convey messages and correspond in an articulate and professional manner.
  • Proficiency in using digital tools, learning management systems (LMS), e-learning software (e.g., Articulate, Canvas), and virtual meeting platforms (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft Teams).
  • Strong understanding of adult learning principles, techniques, and best practices to effectively engage adult learners.
  • Ability to adapt training approaches and content to meet changing needs and accommodate various learning styles and preferences.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team, collaborating with trainers, instructional designers, HR professionals, and other stakeholders to achieve common goals.
  • Dedication to staying current with the latest trends, technologies, and best practices in training, development, and higher education.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to build positive relationships and collaborate with faculty, staff, and other stakeholders.

PHYSICAL AND SENSORY ABILITIES

  • Required to travel to local and campus locations.
  • May be required to sit to perform deskwork or type on a keyboard.
  • Regularly required to hear and speak in order to effectively communicate orally.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, and climb stairs to move about the campus.
  • Handle materials, reach overhead, kneel or stoop in order to conduct business.
  • Regularly lift 10 or fewer pounds.

DRIVING REQUIREMENTS

Use of one’s personal vehicle (or LU vehicles) may be required for travel in the performance of the essential functions of this position. Proof of a valid Virginia driver’s license, an acceptable DMV record, and liability insurance is required.

Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design, develop, and deliver high-level trainings on topics specific to their field of expertise to faculty and staff utilizing various instructional methods, including in-person, virtual, and hybrid formats.
  • Employ a range of instructional methods and technologies to foster an inclusive and collaborative learning environment that encourages active participation and engagement from all faculty and staff members.
  • Articulate and communicate training material in a clear, concise manner that is digestible to all employees in training, facilitate interactive discussions to foster engagement, and address audience inquiries.
  • Collaborate with the Training & Development team, university leadership, and other key stakeholders to create training content that meets the needs and goals of the institution, within their field of expertise.
  • Stay current on best practices in adult learning, instructional design, and higher education trends to ensure training content is relevant and effective.
  • Uphold the university’s mission, values, and policies, integrating a biblical worldview into training content where applicable.
  • Strictly adhere’ s to Liberty University policies, representing the University in an exemplary manner.
  • Align with the training and developments strategic plan of implementing a biblical worldview to university training.
  • Works effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU’s mission and values.
  • All other duties assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • This position does not require supervision of other employees.
