TRAINING MANAGER - SCTG
Founded in 2010, Up2Us Sports is a national nonprofit organization that is focused on the power of coaches to transform the lives of our nation’s most vulnerable youth, and the communities they live in, through sports. QUALIFICATIONS
- Deep core belief in the power of sport to change the lives of young people.
- Superior energy and solutions-orientation; enthusiastic problem-solver.
- A minimum of five years of experience in a coaching or mission-driven organization.
- Significant experience facilitating online and in-person training and professional development opportunities for a diverse group of stakeholders.
- Strong connection with the youth sports community.
- Coaching experience required; significant work with underserved youth preferred.
- Strong understanding of both theory and practice of sports-based youth development.
- Strong understanding of trauma, youth psychology, low-income neighborhoods, and context of underserved neighborhoods.
- Experience in collaborating among various stakeholders.
- Superior interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Business development experience preferred.
- Experience in managing event logistics and strong attention to detail.
- Computer literacy and well-developed technology skills.
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
Responsibilities:
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Training Manager is an expert in sports-based youth development content and a master facilitator. The Training Manager is responsible for leading and supporting Up2Us Sports trainings, which are dynamic and require trainers to understand evidence-based practices, lead activities, interject at critical moments, and facilitate meaningful conversations that help learners of all backgrounds understand key concepts and develop important skills. This position will be based out of New York or Philadelphia and work closely with the Assistant National Director of Training to support both Up2Us Coach training sessions, as well as external partnership training sessions.
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide training support to all Up2Us Sports staff members to become experts in SBYD.
- Facilitate training to Up2Us Sports Coaches, Up2Us Sports member organizations, and youth sports organizations across the country. This will include travel for in-person training sessions.
- Develop relationships to grow the number of fee-for-service training opportunities.
- Manage relationships with the client organizations to handle lead up, on-site, and follow-up for fee for service training.
- Manage assigned grant outcomes and special projects for fee-for-service opportunities. This will include travel for in-person training sessions and a good internet connection for virtual training sessions.
- Serve as the logistical point person for the She Changes The Game Coach Pipeline Initiative.
- Conduct training for high school girls under the She Changes The Game Coach Initiative.
- In collaboration with the National Director of Training, create and update training content to ensure that it maintains relevant to target audiences for She Changes The Game.
- Oversee ongoing communication strategy with high school girls trained by Up2Us Sports to support the pipeline for coaches and VISTA.
- Manage relationships with the client organizations to handle lead-up, on-site, and follow-up for fee-for-service training.
- Act as the point person on-site for any contract training, including managing the training and support team, logistics, and administration follow-up. This includes assisting in maintaining training systems and resources.
- Contribute to the development of new training content.
- Support the development of the Up2Us Sports National Training Team (recruiting, training, and supporting externally).
- Additional travel may be required on an as-needed basis.
- Other duties as determined by your supervisor.
