Description:
An outstanding individual is sought to fulfil the role of Training Programme Director for Paediatrics (Academic) for London.
This is 0.5 PA Training Programme Director vacancy.
The role of Training Programme Director is to work with and support the Postgraduate Dean in leading the delivery of a wide range of functions within their specialty, aligned to the NHS England mandate, specifically focussing on Academic training and trainees. The Programme Director will ensure that both national standards, determined by the RCPCH, NIHR and other bodies as well as guidelines and standards established within London are met.
The successful applicant will work closely with the Head of School, other Paediatric TPD’s (including another Academic TPD), LaSE team including; PGMDE Business Manager, Postgraduate Dean, and other key departments including Quality.
They will work with the Postgraduate Dean to produce doctors who will strive for the highest standards of patient-centred care, excellence in research and commit themselves to a lifetime of professional development.
Responsibilities:
- To oversee the Specialty’s Regional Training Programme focussing on academic trainees
- Monitor and mentor trainees undertaking Out of Programme Research
- Recruitment to Academic training posts and programmes
- Contribute to postgraduate programme management, including assessments, progression, rotations, support and remediation, OOP management, trainee management careers support, less than full-time training, inter-deanery transfer, academic training and other related work-streams.
- The ideal candidate will be an experienced NHS Consultant with an academic track record, knowledge of the London research landscape, and understanding of (specialty) training across the region. They will also have strong leadership and communication skills and be able to work effectively as a member of a multi-professional team.
