REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION:

Equivalent to graduation from a four-year accredited college or university in a related field and the equivalent of three years of progressively responsible professional student services work experience. A master’s degree in in a job-related field may be substituted for one year of experience.
Fundamental written and oral communication skills including a sound foundation in grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Ability to understand standard office procedure and learn office technology systems. Ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations, typing, and keyboard skills. Working knowledge of the practices, procedures, and activities of student recruitment. Demonstrated ability to create and foster positive working relationships with administrators, faculty, staff, students, student organizations, public and private agencies, among others. Preferred experience in evaluating admissions files and accurately determining admission eligibility. Ability to create presentations using related software and familiarity with office-related software used for word processing and creating spreadsheets. Knowledge of project management is highly recommended for this position.
Possession of a valid California driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle for transportation is a must. Ability to work frequent evenings and weekends and to travel overnight on business trips. Ability to lift a minimum of 20 pounds (primarily in the form of recruitment materials).
A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. The person holding this position is considered a ‘mandated reporter’ under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 Revised July 21, 2017 as a condition of employment.
Hiring Range:$5,276 - $5,565 per month

Responsibilities:

Independently reviews and analyzes a high volume of academic records and transcripts and makes decisions regarding admissions for transfer applicants based on Title V Education Code, California Administrative Code, the California State University Office of the Chancellor, and the University policies. In collaboration with the Admissions and Recruitment leadership team, creates and executes outreach and recruitment plans focused on students in the Transfer Success Pathways program. Engages with prospective students by organizing customized outreach and recruitment events, schedules in-person and virtual appointments, communicates via email and text, etc. Recruits students and evaluates admission and enrollment requirements for the Transfer Success Pathways program. Provides advising, counseling, and assessment of student progress within Transfer Success Pathways. Utilizes resources and tools to better assist students on transferring to CSUCI including Transfer Evaluation System (TES), ASSIST, GE Breadth, Associate Degree for Transfer (ADT), Digital Transfer Planner, etc. Conducts ongoing follow up meetings with the program participants to ensure they are on track in transferring to the California State University Channel Islands. Coordinates and supports Student and Faculty Mentorship programs for the Transfer Success Pathways students. Creates work plans and carries out day-to-day assignments without immediate direction, including those mentioned below. Reviews Transfer Student Pathways enrollment and continuously verify student eligibility for program. Responsible for the set up and maintenance of campus specific information in Transfer Planner as well as Transfer Success Pathways agreements.
Recruitment-Related Functions
Initiates visits at community colleges, high schools, community-based organizations, and regional fairs. Advises a diverse slate of prospective students on admission and enrollment requirements for the Transfer Success Pathways program. Maintains program description and other information in the Digital Transfer Planner. Participates in the organization and delivery of on-campus recruitment programs such as information sessions for prospective students and their supporters as well as admitted student events which may include evening and weekend programming and overnight travel. Advises, counsels, and responds independently to inquiries from prospective students and their supporters (via email, telephone, and in-office consultations) providing clear and concise explanations to complex admission requirements, application procedures, and the enrollment process; troubleshoots as necessary. On a regular basis interacts with the transfer centers at local community colleges, assuring that the Transfer Success Pathways students receive an adequate support at their institutions. Aids prospective students in developing a plan to attain their Transfer Success Pathways enrollment goals. Explain rules and regulations pertinent to Transfer Success Pathways program. Works with students to make sure that they are following their course paths based on the information in the Digital Transfer Planner.
Collaborates with on- and off-campus partners to disseminate admissions information, including updating high school and community college counselors about the Transfer Success Pathways program and enrollment data. Represents the California State University system through making various presentations to the general public including but not limited to application workshops, educational opportunities and support services among other topics. Attends periodic professional development trainings and meetings sponsored by related organizations and the CSU, and actively participates in unit meeting and planning retreats.
Evaluation Functions
Applies knowledge of student records (transcripts, test scores, and other official documents) to determine provisional and final admissibility in accordance with established criteria and procedures. Makes appropriate recommendations and decisions by gathering and analyzing data, logical reasoning, and drawing valid conclusions as to whether an applicant or admitted student meets or continues to meet admission and enrollment requirements utilizing technology including but not limited to PeopleSoft Student Information System, TSP-Liaison platform, WebADMT Application system, Digital Transfer Planner, and CRM communication tool. Collaborates with other offices to assist students in successfully navigating the admission and enrollment process. Assists in the development and editing of communications and systems that facilitate a simpler and more streamlined admissions and enrollment process. Evaluates student progress towards fulfilling transfer eligibility within the program. Advises students on alternative paths in reaching Transfer Success Pathways eligibility. Communicates with students via calls, emails, and text message to follow up on incomplete admission files and to remind them of deadlines. Assists in training and providing direction to student assistants who respond to inquiries about the admissions and enrollment process. Provides, when necessary, advising, counseling, analysis, and assessment for students attempting to complete requirements relating to degree requirements.
Assists with other admissions and recruitment related functions and other related duties as assigned.
