WHAT QUALIFICATIONS DO YOU BRING?

  • Completion of a post-secondary college diploma or university degree in a related discipline or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent.
  • Good understanding and comfort level working with transit computer-based systems such as Trapeze, including scheduling and crewing related applications
  • Strong organizational skills as well as a demonstrated proficiency working with numbers; good communication skills
  • Familiarity with urban transit operations in the Toronto area
  • Must have or rapidly acquire a comprehensive knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders including disability accommodation and accessibility requirements pertaining to passengers and employees.

Responsibilities:

As a Transit scheduler Trainee, you will perform a variety of duties related to the preparation of schedules; perform a variety of duties related to the preparation of crew guides; Performs duties related to the preparation of Operator off-day and sign-up; and train on the Trapeze scheduling system and other computer software, such as Excel and Word.
You will learn how to design and prepare transit schedules, operator work crews, rosters (off-day boards) and other related data for all operating modes to provide efficient transit service which meets the public’s needs, while creating the best-possible working conditions in accordance with collective agreement terms; work or train on duties related to reviewing schedule service change requisitions and running time, building trips according to service designs, checking and adjusting headways at transitions into and out of different operating periods, checking scheduled hours versus crew guide hours and monitoring the level of deadheading; and create operator off day boards (rosters).
