Mott MacDonald is currently seeking a highly motivated Principal Project Manager / Transit & Urban Mobility Lead to join our dynamic team located in our Calgary office. In this position you will be responsible for leadership and project management on transit and urban mobility projects including LRT, BRT, Transportation buildings and other aspects of integrated urban mobility projects. You will support growth initiatives through establishing and building client relationships in the transportation sector, support the development of junior and intermediate staff, and contribute to Mott MacDonald’s commitment to excellence.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Planning, organizing, coordinating, and working with technical and management groups in the delivery of a range of transit and urban mobility projects
  • Leading teams of engineers and technicians to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the client’s satisfaction
  • Coordinating with clients, stakeholders, and project team members to ensure project goals and objectives are met
  • Leading and mentoring a team of exemplary professionals focused on transit and urban mobility
  • Managing and overseeing the preparation of the construction contract documents
  • Leading the development of proposal responses
  • Being accountable for compliance with internal performance metrics coordinating with other engineering disciplines managing project staff and subconsultants to keep projects on budget and schedule and within agreed upon scope
  • Interacting with clients on a regular basis, keeps current clients on prospects
  • Maintaining industry knowledge of current standards and procedures
  • Acting as a role model and ambassador for Mott MacDonald, articulating and representing our brand, vision, and value proposition internally and externally
  • Nurturing an innovative, challenging, collaborative and high performing work environment, which supports the use of digital tools and technology and fosters the Mott MacDonald values and culture

Candidate Specification:

Our team of professionals provides cost-effective and innovative engineering solutions for the North American transportation and infrastructure industry with unprecedented success. We’re looking for an individual to join our team to continue this traction and invite applications from candidates with:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Master’s degree preferred
  • Registered Professional Engineer in good standing (or the ability to obtain a P.Eng. in Alberta within 12 months)
  • Over 20 years of industry experience in the transit, transportation buildings, or other transportation sector contributing to urban mobility.
  • Established relationships with key client organizations in the western Canadian market
  • Experience overseeing design and management of transit, rail or urban mobility projects
  • Knowledge and understanding of industry procurement models
  • Must be familiar with relevant industry standards and design criteria
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Ability to build and harbor good working relationships with our business partners, suppliers, contractors, and clients
  • Desire and flexibility to travel
  • Incorporates health, safety and wellbeing in all that you do
  • Ability to work in a team environment
