Description:
In collaboration with Dementia UK, Sheffield Teaching Hospitals are looking to recruit an exceptional registered nurse with a passion for, and experience of, providing relationship centred dementia care to join our team as an Admiral Nurse.
Admiral Nurses are specialist dementia nurses who work with and support people with dementia and their families. As the Band 6 Admiral Nurse, you will be based between the Northern General/Royal Hallamshire Hospitals and in the community; working within the acute inpatient setting, and post discharge follow up in care homes and home settings, to influence, deliver and coordinate relationship centred dementia care.
As an Admiral Nurse, you will deliver specialist one -to-one support, guidance and practical solutions for families, alongside supporting best practice and providing role modelling within Sheffield Teaching Hospitals. You will also influence and lead on the delivery of work streams that improve the experience of care for people living with dementia, and their families throughout their hospital stay and across care transitions.
The successful applicant will be an NMC registered nurse, with significant post-registration clinical experience of working with people with dementia and supporting their carers/supporters in different settings, including the acute setting, along with formal knowledge of dementia acquired through clinical post-graduate training/education.
You will be working for an organisation which values and respects all its staff and the community it serves. The Trust is a leader in the NHS and research sectors and provides excellent benefits for its staff. This includes commitments to professional development but also many policies to support employees in balancing their personal and professional lives.
You will receive ongoing support from Dementia UK to maintain and strengthen your clinical expertise as a specialist nurse within dementia care. You will also become part of the wider network of Admiral Nurses and will have the opportunity to access relevant post graduate courses and develop professionally, as informed by the Admiral Nurse Competency Framework.
This vacancy is advertised on a fixed term contract basis for a period of a maximum of 14 months due to maternity leave of the substantive post holder. The fixed term contract status of the post holder will be reviewed in accordance with the Trust’s legal obligations regarding fixed term contracts and statutory maternity provisions.
Please also note any secondment must first be agreed with your current line manager.
