The Role:
As the Compliance Manager you will facilitate the cost-effective, timely and compliant movement of all domestic, imported and exported goods and equipment to support the business requirements of Mulberry. You will ensure Mulberry always adheres to import/export compliance and promotes best practice in the business.
You will need to proactively identify business risk associated with movement of goods and work cross functionally at senior manager level to implement solutions to support in developing the global retail network. This is a fundamental role to ensure the business is supporting international growth with an efficient and compliant logistics network.
Duties and responsibilities:

Leadership & Team

  • Lead the compliance team to ensure best practice is followed in product classification and associated data requirements.
  • Lead the transport team to ensure deliveries and collections are made as per business requirements.
  • Be a proactive leader, with a positive approach to enforcing change.
  • Deal with performance issues quickly and consistently.
  • Manage your team’s recruitment with support from the recruitment team.
  • Promote engagement initiatives.
  • Build a plan to deliver continuous staff improvement, though engaging employees.
  • Work collaboratively with the Logistics management team to support them in the vision of achieving a world class logistics function.

Operations

  • Analyse logistical data and provide awareness of business risk, cost saving opportunities and efficiency savings.
  • Ensure compliance with HMRC and associated regulatory bodies, in that processes are adhered to and updated. Be aware of new/updated regulations and notices.
  • Ensure process documents and training manuals are regularly reviewed and updated.
  • Actively participate in cross functional projects and provide and deliver business solutions.
  • Carry out additional duties and take on additional responsibility as and when required.

Communication

  • Work collaboratively with all key internal stakeholders.
  • Lead negotiations with all carriers and transport suppliers, ensuring their performance meets the business standard set and regularly benchmark and review KPI’s in terms of quality, price and service.
  • Create and develop an effective network of contacts internally/externally to achieve business results.
  • Participate in team meetings and cross functional projects, offering transport and compliance insights.
  • Attend and participate in Company training initiatives and have a proactive approach to self-development.

Skills and Knowledge Required:

  • Display a high level of functional expertise in own field and constantly update knowledge to ensure expertise remains relevant e.g., supplier management, customs procedures and audit requirements and multimodal transport operations.
  • Proven ability to influence the views of others through effective persuasion.
  • Able to make high quality decisions.
  • Experience in providing and communicating inspiration and clear direction in line with the Company culture.
  • Ability to manage change effectively and proactively.
