Here at Hays, we are working with a global distribution company based in Bradford for the recruitment of a Transport Manager to join their operations team. This is a permanent position paying up to £65,000 per year. As the Transport Manager you will be accountable for the safe, legal and efficient execution of transport operations on a day-to-day basis. You will be responsible for the execution of transport plans ensuring transport and network SLA’s/KPI’s are achieved.
As Transport Manager you till be reporting into the RGM and managing the Transport team and will be accountable for safe, legal and efficient execution of transport operations. You will be a strong people manager and deliver key tasks for the site. There are 150 core drivers, c60 vehicles and c200 trailers.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THIS ROLE:

• Be the point of escalation for operational issue management and resolution for transport and with local warehouse.
• H&S accountability for site and drivers teams.
• Operational issue trend management and resolution.
• Accountability for team EOS and proactive action plans.
• Driver cost efficiencies with transport operation.
• Line management responsibility for FLMs.
• Manage operational costs and identification of cost performance trends - i.e. fuel performance/accidents etc.
• Promote a positive transport/network culture, supporting EOS initiatives.
• To schedule, prepare and conduct quarterly 1-2-1’s with all direct reports in line with OMS guidelines

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS ROLE:

• Proven experience in the logistics industry at middle management level.
• Transport leadership experience and experienced with transport legal compliance.
• H&S compliance and leadership experience.
• Managing and building relations (unionised environments).
• Strong commercial acumen and analysis.
• Customer perspective and awareness.
• Good numerical skills (essential)
• Transport International Certificate of Professional Competence (Essential)Completed CSCS/CSCM/Leadership Essentials
