ROLE OVERVIEW
Mawdsleys is a leading pharmaceutical logistics and transportation company dedicated to providing an excellent service to our clients. With a fleet of state-of-the-art temperature-controlled vehicles, and a commitment to compliance excellence, we are looking for a dynamic and experienced Transport Manager to join our team. The Transport Manager will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our HGV & LCV fleet, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations, and optimising efficiency and safety. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in transport management, and a proven track record of successfully managing a team.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Fleet management – oversee the maintenance, scheduling, and operation of the fleet;
- Regulatory compliance – ensure all activities comply with transportation laws and regulations, including DVSA, MHRA & health and safety standards;
- Team leadership – manage and motivate a team of drivers, schedulers and support staff;
- Budget management – manage the transport department budget, including cost control;
- Customer service – maintain high levels of customer satisfaction through effective service delivery and problem resolution;
- Reporting – prepare regular reports on transport operations, including performance metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs);
- Ensure that operations are carried out in adherence to Good Distribution Practice (GDP) principles;
- Direct the operations team in the safe movement of pharmaceuticals throughout the supply chain from goods receipt to final mile delivery;
- Promote patient safety in-line with the guidance and advice provided by quality team and controlled by the business quality management system. Ensuring that business-agreed processes are followed and standards adhered to;
- Champion Health & Safety in all aspects of the operations, ensuring that the companies’ zero-accident culture is promoted and worked to;
- Align with all MHRA regulation/company SOP’s to safeguard product integrity and cool-chain stipulations;
- Manage warehouse colleagues to deliver operational and customer-service excellence;
- Support the ML commercial team in their quest to grow the business;
- Encourage open communication. Express thoughts clearly, accurately and precisely, both verbally and in writing;
- React appropriately while listening and understanding the views of others. Help others see a different point of view;
- Provide a service to customers that meet the targets of the business in regards to order fill, delivery on-time and professional customer service;
- Be involved and lead, if relevant, any projects that are required to support the business strategy;
- Ensure that holidays, absence and company policies are adhered to on a daily basis.
