POSITION SUMMARY:

The Transport Operations Senior Manager-Midwest will be responsible for leading the team in support of the overall planning and direction of the light products fleets in the Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, and Minnesota areas. These areas include 14 fleets and ~240 drivers. This role will include developing talent, optimizing operational and financial performance, promoting a culture of safety and environmental stewardship, and engaging in entrepreneurialism.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • 7 -10 years’ experience in Transport Operations or equivalent relevant experience in logistics.

Responsibilities:

  • Leads with safety and operational excellence by supporting 24/7 management of day-to-day normal and abnormal operations of the Transport Operations Managers/Supervisors responsible for Transport Drivers and administrative staff.
  • Develops employees through clear expectations and frequent, meaningful performance and developmental discussions; builds relationships and talent through mentorship and recognition; engages in performance management, learning experiences and succession planning.
  • Focuses on Operational Discipline/Continuous Improvement by adhering to standards, processes, and procedures; identifies, aligns, and optimizes processes and procedures across your fleets to ensure they are being followed.
  • Promotes a culture of safety through reinforcement of safe work practices and leading by example; oversees safety processes for the fleets including participation in incident investigations.
  • Fosters a positive working relationship within the team, the support organizations, stakeholders, and the communities in which we live and work; supports programs and initiatives to ensure MPC is the employer of choice.
  • Develops long-range strategic plans for transport fleets within their area of responsibility; engages and influences the team to ensure understanding of the plan, actions to get there, ways to overcome barriers, and the commitment to move forward; understands the key market drivers to create business opportunities, expansion possibilities, and where optimization can occur.
  • Identifies and understands problems and opportunities by gathering, analyzing, and interpreting quantitative and qualitative information; choosing the best course of action by establishing clear decision criteria, generating, and evaluating alternatives, and making timely decisions; taking action that is consistent with available facts and constraints and optimizes probable consequences.
  • Possess financial and business acumen; understands and is responsible for profit/loss of the fleets within area of responsibility; collaborates with stakeholders to understand financial performance of the fleets and presents financial data to senior leadership; develops manpower budgets and projections.
  • Conveys information and ideas clearly and concisely to individuals or groups in an engaging manner to help understand and retain the message; listens actively to others; creates a positive impression commanding attention and respect of others.
