ABOUT YOU

The successful candidate will possess the following:

  • 3-6 years’ experience in transport operations preferred or similar roles
  • 1-2 years in customer facing roles
  • Excellent understanding of the supply chain from an Australian perspective
  • Strong customer service skills and attention to detail
  • Experience managing customer requirements for transportation (import and export shipments)
  • Demonstrated ability to work and solution issues independently
  • Cargowise (Wise-Tech) experience and knowledge advantageous

Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE

An exciting opportunity for a Transport Specialist to join our growing team!
This role will be responsible for managing the transport operation for our clients using DP World’s assets and systems, while maintaining our reputation and brand as market leading logistics service provider. The Transport Operator will manage day-to-day operations for key clients, from bookings, processing shipments, liaising with operations through to invoicing and reporting.

THE KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS ROLE INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Manage the day-to-day operation of all transport services
  • Manage risks associated with transport
  • Lead by example and identify areas of improvement
  • Investigate new ways and processes to manage day to day activities and improve automation
  • Eliminate unrecoverable costs
  • Ensure all team members are working towards customer satisfaction targets
  • Understand costs for services and look for cost reductions
  • Help the team and transport service providers trouble shoot problems
  • Book and manage transport of all shipments for our clients with appointed service providers
  • Maintain and update records of all shipments and provide activity reporting and key dates to client
  • Request and provide documents and electronic messages to transport providers within the required timeframe
  • Update the system with delivery and dehire dates, as well as any notes that are relevant to the operation
  • Manage the client code in our operation system with all current information
  • Monitor Customs Clearance and other regulatory releases (DAWR)
  • Provide the highest level of customer service to the client by being responsive, cooperative, and knowledgeable with regards to the client’s business and the global import/export market
