Job Description
AECOM seeks a Transportation Business Leader to lead market expansion and support projects for Transportation Business Line clients in the Republic of Panama. The selected candidate will be based in our Panama City office, with occasional travel across the region expected.

In this role, the selected candidate will collaborate closely with our Panama Country Leadership and LATAM Regional Business Line Leaders. The candidate will be responsible for the overall vision, leadership, and growth strategy for our Transportation Business Line in Panama. This includes mentoring staff, managing transportation clients, projects and supporting infrastructure projects across various sectors, such as:

  • Comprehensive transportation systems planning, design, and construction
  • Familiarity with regional and national transportation regulations and international best practices
  • Building and managing relationships with public, private, and multilateral clients
  • Delivery and technical oversight of roads, highways, rail, ports, and multimodal transport systems
  • Promoting sustainable transportation solutions aligned with global and regional trends

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Engineering, Business, or a related field + 8 YORE or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Strong understanding of the transportation industry in Panama.
  • Demonstrated experience developing new business opportunities with public, private, and multilateral clients.
  • Advanced English/Spanish proficiency in a business environment.
    Additional Information

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree in engineering, business, or a related field.
  • Ten (10) or more years of experience in transportation projects.
  • Eight (8) or more years of business development experience in transportation.
  • Familiarity with Panama’s infrastructure development strategies, public transportation systems, and regional logistics hubs.
  • Professional Engineering License (or equivalent) in Panama.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including client interaction, public speaking, and negotiation abilities.
  • Proven financial management skills and the ability to lead diverse, multi-disciplinary teams effectively.
    Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

Responsibilities:

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

  • Drive the implementation of tactical business plans aligned with AECOM’s global transportation strategy to ensure the growth and profitability of the regional transportation business line.
  • Lead business development efforts, manage client relationships, and oversee resource allocation within the transportation business line in Panama.
  • Provide strategic input into the LATAM regional plan for transportation initiatives and market opportunities.
  • Manage the CRM pipeline (Salesforce) and oversee the transportation business line’s project portfolio.
  • Represent AECOM at key transportation and infrastructure conferences to strengthen the brand and position AECOM as a leader in the market.
  • Lead strategic pursuits, including client negotiations, scope development, and coordination with the Operations Team to ensure delivery excellence.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities, promote AECOM’s services to potential clients, and participate in project presentations.
  • Participate in consultant selection, project opportunity evaluation, and preparation of qualification/experience statements.
  • Coordinate and participate in contract negotiations with clients and subcontractors, drafting complex service agreements for senior management review.
  • Ensure compliance with contract terms for project teams and clients while monitoring subcontractor commitments.
  • Supervise technical professionals, project managers, and design staff, including workload and staffing management.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
