JOB SUMMARY

Salary under review
To provide administration for a variety of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), Asset Management Systems (AMS), end-user training and support for the Geographic Information System (GIS) and related applications and databases, including obtaining, creating, sustaining, validating and integrating data and information within the Transportation Services Division. Provide analysis of spatial and attribute data, to support planning, engineering, operational and fleet processes, to align with strategic objectives. This position is accountable for accurate maintenance of information in the Transportation asset management and fleet CMMS, GIS and data in Transportation’s spatial and non-spatial databases. These activities include understanding and applying business processes to support: system configuration; new module development and deployment; system security; user and user group configuration; development and delivery of user support and training. In addition, acts as the direct liaison with the software vendor and is responsible for staying current with changes, alterations, and improvements in the software, suggesting customization opportunities and rolling out global changes within the server based environment.

EDUCATION

  • University degree in Geography, Computer Science/Information Technology or Engineering.
  • Post-secondary diploma in GIS or related field of study is preferred.
  • Formal computer and software training/courses are required related to CMMS, AMS, GIS and databases.

KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a public works operations, engineering or planning environment, working with CMMS, AMS, GIS, databases, preferably within the public sector.
  • Thorough understanding of end-user system administration and GIS based analyses.
  • Experience with GIS map production, spatial data standards, systems integration and associated software, specifically ESRI and Microsoft products.
  • Membership in the Ontario Association for Certified Engineering Technicians &
    Technologists (OACETT) is preferred.

SKILLS

  • Must be able to work with minimum supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment to collaborate on ideas and innovation.
  • Must be able to accurately interpret schematic and/or engineering drawings and plans.
  • Proficiency in computer based applications related to position.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills are required for customer service and preparation of technical documentation.
