Description:
Under the supervision of a Senior Transportation Engineer, the Utility Engineer is responsible for researching, identifying, developing, and coordinating engineering solutions associated with utility relocations and developing and populating the Caltrans Utility Database. In addition, the Utility Engineer is responsible for developing utility estimates, plans, and specifications. Reviews other engineers’ work for accuracy and compliance with policy and regulations. Creates Utility Management Matrix and Utility communication plans in collaboration with Project Engineers, Right of Way (R/W) Utility Coordinators, and Utility Owners. The unit’s designated Lead worker will provide assignments and reviews as needed. Must participate in Project Development Team (PDT), Strategic Team Meeting (STM), and Project Transfer Meetings. Conduct field reviews and potholing.
