ROLE DESCRIPTION
Do you want to save lives, and generally make the world a better place? If so, Arcadis IBI Group’s Traffic Operations and Safety Group wants you! Don’t let the name fool you, it’s not just about cars. The traffic operations and road user safety practice at IBI Group works with transportation agencies across North America, and around the world, to provide safe and efficient transportation solutions including proposing new Intelligent Transportation Systems deployments/plans and transit priority measures. We rely heavily on the use of simulation and prediction models to assess the delay and collision impacts of proposed changes to traffic controls and other roadway features to improve operations for all modes. The work we do is highly analytical and data driven, and we take on a lot of challenges that have never been attempted before. We have been applying many of these techniques for a variety of major transportation projects including projects with TransLink such as Bus Speed and Reliability, King George Boulevard Transit Priority and Urban Design Study; Broadway Subway with City of Vancouver; and Traffic Impact Assessment projects in Metro Vancouver Area as well as other areas in BC or Alberta. We’re looking for keen, motivated individuals, who are interested in exploring a career in the operations side of transportation.
ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Assist staff with focus particularly on analysis of transportation projects (using various tools)
- Conduct site surveys and hands-on data collection
- Assist in the development and delivery of project reports
- Assist the team in developing a project scope, terms of reference, and the Request for Proposal documents for traffic studies
