TRUCK TRANSPORTATION PLANNER / ROUTER / ROUTE DELIVERY DISPATCHER / PHONE DISPATCHER

Department: Administrative – Final Mile
Work Environment: On- Site
Shift: Full Time / $ 20.50
Schedule availability: Monday - Saturday from 7am-4pm / 5 days
Industry: Transportation/ Appliance Delivery and / or installation / White Glove Delivery

Job Summary:
Coordinates daily operational needs with Leadership team. Plans, distributes, monitors, and follows-up daily route assignments to ensure customers are serviced per White Glove In-Home Appliance / Werner standards and agreements. Reviews weekly demand / volume for routes, determines potential gains from re-routing, and recommend-routes to the routing specialist. Sets and monitors productivity, service, and safety targets for each route and driver. You will be responsible for, but not limited to maintaining ongoing communication with delivery teams, clients, and customers in order to address and resolve any problems or obstacles that could interfere with the timely completion of scheduled deliveries.

Responsibilities:

  • Organizes and schedules all necessary resources required to accomplish activities. Coordinates daily operational needs with Leadership team.
  • Plans, distributes, monitors, and follows-up daily route assignments to ensure customers are serviced per White Glove In-Home Appliance / Werner standards and agreements.
  • Reviews weekly demand/ volume for routes, determines potential gains from re-routing, and recommend-routes to the routing specialist.
  • Sets and monitors productivity, service, and safety targets for each route and driver.
  • Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required Previous experience working in a routing capacity required.

REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS:

  • Previous experience support delivery drivers 1-3 years.
  • Previous experience working in the transportation, logistics or home décor strongly preferred.
  • Flexible hours – able to work some weekends.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Computer skills; working knowledge of Windows applications, Microsoft applications.
  • Delivery Routing software (Global Positioning System) 1-3 years.
  • Proven customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of Metro NJ Gloucester County / PA Philadelphia County with the ability to read maps - would be a plus.
  • Must be able to work independently, make decisions, and resolve problems.
  • Prompt scheduling of deliveries to the end consumer per the client specific SOP’s
  • Routing process for outbound delivery trucks focusing on service, revenue per truck, driver/drive team selection and dispatch.
  • Completes all delivery statuses in the appropriate operating systems and portals, collecting POD’s and communicating extra charges to customers per the established SOP’s.
  • Communicates with sense of urgency with all parties keeping them informed of schedule or delivery issues, answering questions, responding to requests, and identifying and implementing solutions.
  • Monitors delivery teams’ progress through their routes and schedules – informs or makes adjustments as necessary.
  • Advises delivery teams of the proper actions regarding customer, logistics or other problems which could arise and affect scheduled deliveries.
  • Prepares quality reports, load out reports, dispatch logs and tracking logs, and set up of delivery manifests.
  • Manages exceptions not limited to late departures or arrivals, breakdowns, in-home service time, not at home, go backs, accidents, product or in-home damages, delivery team illness or injury.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must successfully complete pre-employment testing/background/drug screening.
  • Must be able to read and speak the English language.
  • Must be able to work flexible schedules including weekends and holidays, and be available to address operational issues.
  • One to three years (phone) dispatch experience, preferably in the truckload segment of the industry.
  • One to three years preferred. Dispatch Track software.
