Description:
Purpose: The Transportation Supervisor is in charge of planning, directing, and coordinating all the activities related to transportation operations. He/she directs activities related to dispatching, routing, and tracking transportation vehicles and railroad cars.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to fulfill each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Assists in rail head operations oversight.
- Monitors transportation operations in order to ensure that staff members comply with the company rules, safety procedures and government regulations.
- Monitors fuel and transportation spending to make sure that expenses are consistent with the approved budgets.
- Assists with oversight of Preventive Maintenance Checks and Services (PMCS) on equipment and generates a DA Form 2404 (Equipment Inspection and Maintenance Worksheet) and reports any faults.
- Hand out daily/weekly tasking’s as the Transportation Movement Requests’ (TMRs’).
- Collect all DA Form 2404s generated and keep filed.
- Ensure that the equipment used is correctly dispatched.
- Maintain daily timesheets and daily manning reports ensuring correct times are accurate.
- Reports and receives direction via radio or cellular phone.
- Briefs transportation topics or other changes in policies.
- Confers with Transportation Manager to determine changes in transportation missions and to inform transportation mission changes.
- Accounts for all internal vehicle and container movements by monitoring the internal TMR record.
- Signs-in/out commercial trucks to the base.
- Liaises with the commercial and military drivers that arrive on site to pick up equipment.
- Liaises with different Brigade Movement Control Teams (BMCTs), Movement Control Teams (MCTs) to resolve any movement queries or problems.
- Generates all accompanying shipment paperwork i.e. Transportation Control and Movement Documents (TCNDs), DD Form 2890s (Multimodal Dangerous Goods Declaration) and ensures DD Form 1750s (Packing List) are filled out and attached to the equipment, if required.
- Generates Export Traffic Release Transportation Requests (ETRRs) for all ship bound transportation.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualification & Experience Requirements: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- At least 7 years of experience in the same or similar position.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Must be able to meet and maintain all base licensing requirements.
- Must be able to meet and maintain all base access security requirements.
- Must be able to meet and maintain all Logistic Information System (LIS) access requirements (Common Access Card).
- Knowledge or experience in using the Movement and Funding Automated Support Tool (MFAST) is a plus.
- Excellent computer, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills required. Computer skills include a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
