Description:

Reporting to the Transportation Manager, this position is responsible for supervising the Calgary, Lethbridge and Saskatoon based truck drivers, coordinating fleet maintenance and repairs, establishing delivery schedules and assisting with routing.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 1-3 years of supervisory experience in a transportation capacity would be an asset
  • Excellent communication, analytical and interpersonal/team skills
  • Previous experience in the transportation industry
  • Strong computer skills in (MS Office, Excel, Outlook)
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement
  • Ability to work independently with initiative
  • Demonstrated ability to compile data, analyze and summarize findings
  • Valid class 1 driver’s license

Responsibilities:

  • Continue to drive the Safety Culture and ensure safe work practices
  • Maintain and improve On Time Delivery service level
  • Supervise and direct the activities of all truck drivers and transportation clerks
  • Carry out performance reviews, monitor driver performance through On-Board computer readings
  • Participate in new driver selection process
  • Maintain a master schedule of drivers, tractors and trailers to expedite delivery requirements
  • Develop, implement and monitor all driver training programs including Health and Safety requirements
  • Ensure all training documentation are in place as required
  • Ensure that delivery equipment is scheduled for preventative maintenance and repairs as needed
  • Prepare a bi-weekly hours of service summary for drivers, tractors and trailers
  • Monitor and maintain an adequate supply of vehicle supplies (fuel conditioner, windshield washer fluid and motor oil)
  • Review monthly vehicle logs and ensure accuracy
  • Investigate and resolve customer and driver concerns regarding transportation issues
  • Liaise with the Warehouse Team, Restaurant Owners, and Regional Distribution Centres ensuring communication and the resolution of problems.
  • Schedule and conduct regular hospitality calls with owners
  • Report fleet metrics for sustainability reports
