How you make a difference:
The Travel Nurse is a Licensed Practical Nurse/Licensed Vocational Nurse (LPN LVN) responsible for providing patient care in a correctional setting, following the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, while working under the supervision of RNs. They will also provide patient teaching and activities appropriate to their education and demonstrated competencies, in compliance with the Nursing Practice Act. The Travel Nurse must work effectively with a multidisciplinary team and maintain accurate and complete patient records.
Key Responsibilities:
- Under the supervision of an RN, the LPN/LVN assists in assessing patients and planning individual treatment programs.
- Implements treatment programs by administering medications, performing diagnostic tests, assisting in medical procedures, and implementing nutrition and therapeutic diet plans.
- Counts controlled substances and implements proper safety techniques and standard precautions.
- Documents nursing encounters using SOAP charting and communicates necessary information to nursing staff and other personnel.
- Responds to emergencies within standard guidelines.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Education
- Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing
Experience
- One (1) or more years clinic experience required
- Must be willing and able to travel 100% of the time.
Licenses/Certifications
- Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) within the states of practice
- Current CPR certification
