Bayshore HealthCare’s Northern Nursing program has provided high-quality community health relief staffing services to Canada’s North since 1997. Our Nurses experience exciting assignments in Northern Canada’s isolated, semi-isolated, and remote areas. Work closely with diverse Indigenous communities (First Nations, Inuit, and Métis) providing care to community members in Canada’s remote Northern communities of British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario, Yukon, Northwest Territories, and Nunavut.

Responsibilities:

  • Consult with physicians and the Health Center Charge Nurse to work within an expanded scope of practice providing healthcare services to pre-natal and adult patients for trauma and primary care, including delivery of newborns, treating minor acute illnesses and injuries, and conducting general treatment clinics
  • Apply the nursing process utilizing the skills of observation, assessment, nursing diagnosis, counseling, and health teaching according to the established care plan.
  • Ensure that, on an ongoing basis, the emotional, spiritual, physical comfort and safety of clients are met to the greatest possible extent within the scope of practice
  • Utilize strong assessment skills, exceptional interpersonal skills, and proven ability to effectively communicate to handle difficult situations in an objective consistent format
  • Assignment minimum duration is 2 weeks or longer, depending on operational needs and Nurse availability
