JOB DESCRIPTION:

Overview:
Sun Life’s Physical Security & Crisis Management department is looking for a Travel Risk & Event Security Specialist. Our department manages a best-in-class corporate physical risk management and asset protection program, safeguarding Sun Life’s people and operations worldwide.
Our dynamic group of professionals delivers effective oversight, assessment, consulting, and support services in enterprise physical risk management. This includes global incident monitoring and crisis response, physical security systems and technology, travel risk, enhanced personnel protection, as well as occupational health & safety. The role reports to the Manager, Enhanced Personnel Protection (EPP).

NOTES/UNIQUE REQUIREMENTS

  • Risk management of the workplace continues to evolve in an increasingly hybrid work environment. This presents challenges and opportunities for the experienced risk practitioner.
  • Collaborate across a global enterprise with the expectation to be on call 24/7 during emergency situations including the navigation through high stress and fast paced reaction times associated with crisis management and emergency response.
  • This position may interact with senior management at the Corporate and Business Group level, peers within Corporate Compliance, Information Security, Risk & Governance, Business Continuity, Corporate Real Estate and Human Resources in the delivery of physical security, crisis management and emergency response services related to both security and travel risk.
  • Consequences of errors in judgment or decision making could place human life and safety at risk or result in significant legal liability and harm to company reputation.

Responsibilities:

ROLE SUMMARY:

The successful candidate will work with a team responsible for executing our travel risk management, executive protection, and event security requirements in support of personnel and asset protection through risk assessments, reporting, consulting, onsite presence, awareness, and education. This position will maintain strong partnerships with both internal and external business partners, as well as provide active support to risk programs for our global operations. In collaboration with colleagues and internal partners, this position will be a driving force for program effectiveness, enhancements, and high-quality delivery of services.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Oversee event security and compiling threat risk intelligence on geopolitical concerns, security risks such as crime, terrorism, civil unrest, and travel risk to ensure traveler safety.
  • Provide on-site support for high profile events and meetings which may include personnel protection, organizing movements to and from transportation, and supervising security contractors. Some North American and International travel required.
  • Provide relevant and timely situational awareness briefs, and travel briefs in collaboration with our third-party security, medical, and travel risk vendors.
  • Create and maintain risk profiles on high profile members of the organization.
  • Prepare detailed event security risk assessments and security operational plans to support off-site events globally.
  • our travel risk vendor to review, create, and maintain our global major location evacuation plans and escalation matrixes.
  • Participate and contribute to industry related threat intelligence roundtables, groups or committee’s pertaining to executive protection, travel risk management and event security.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with business leaders to ensure that the quality of services provided meet our objectives.
  • This position may interface directly with external security departments and vendors.
