POSITION SUMMARY:

On a tray farm, the trays or mushroom beds are made of wood and are approximately 6 feet by 5 feet in size. These trays are filled and then moved to the harvest rooms. The Tray Line Operator ensures the trays are properly processed to optimize harvest yields.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Opening spawning tunnel and setting up pulling winch
  • Awareness of machinery and equipment issues and reporting these to maintenance straight away
  • Estimating how much material and where to set filling height for optimum fill weights in the harvest trays (beds)
  • Watches for changes in compost quality
  • Operating of tray line in an efficient and effective manner to ensure trays are filled with compost and peat moss uniformly
  • General maintenance on non-casing days along with complete cleaning of all equipment, floors, etc Ensuring tunnels are washed and closed at end of each day
  • Managing supplement application and inventories
  • Cross trains on all equipment and jobs in the preparation division such as dump wash line, peat mixing, and any other applicable areas.
  • Performs any other duties that may be assigned as required

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be eligible to work in Canada.
  • Must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Forklift experience an asset.
