Description:

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to gain knowledge and build relationships in multiple areas. Recovery and Resolution activities touch all areas of the business making this a fantastic opportunity and we work with people at all levels, managing deliverables which the Board has ultimate responsibility for.
We’re looking for a Consultant to take on a key role in the Recovery and Resolution team in Treasury. This role includes a variety of activities; the successful candidate will need to have an eye for detail and be prepared to learn about a wide range of topics, from Recovery Planning and the Resolvability Assessment Framework to Nationwide’s products, capital and liquidity requirements, governance and more. You will be helping to co-ordinate and prepare materials for senior committees, ensure compliance with any key updates from the Bank of England and Prudential Regulation Authority, and manage stakeholders to ensure deliverables are completed within timescales required and to a high standard. There may also be opportunity to be involved in activities such as ExCo and Board-level fire drills and capability testing across multiple different areas of the business.
This role sits within the Finance Function here at Nationwide. The Recovery and Resolution team’s role is to ensure Nationwide has a framework and credible plans in place to adapt to a materially changing environment in an orderly way, minimising risk to our members and the UK economy, thereby maintaining market confidence and financial strength even in the most extreme circumstances.
We co-ordinate and deliver Nationwide’s responses to both Bank of England and PRA regulation and requests. This would be a great role for someone interested in learning more about how responses to different types of stress events are and/or would be managed.
For this job you’ll spend at least two days per week, or if part time you’ll spend 40% of your working time, based at either our Swindon or London office. If your application is successful, your hiring manager will provide further details on how this works. You can also find out more about our approach to hybrid working here.
If we receive a high volume of relevant applications, we may close the advert earlier than the advertised date, so please apply as soon as you can.

ABOUT YOU

As a minimum, we require:

  • Experience of working in a financial services or risk management area of expertise and/or involvement in interpreting and responding to changes in regulation.
  • You’ll be highly organised, able to manage your time across multiple ongoing deliverables and able to think expansively.
  • Great communication skills, used to build relationships, manage internal stakeholders, deliver the implementation of changes and collaborate on information gathering.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills and the ability to quickly understand complex problems.
  • Proven capability to work to deadlines managing competing pressures, to act on your own initiative and seek collaboration to find solutions.
  • The ability and technical knowledge to gather, collate and prepare documentation for presentation, whilst being able to adapt this to differing audiences.

Our Customer First behaviours are all about putting customers and members at the heart of how we work together. You can strengthen your application by showing the behaviours that resonate with you, and how you might have already demonstrated these.

  • Say it straight - This is about being honest and direct with good intent and saying what needs to be said in the room. It’s also about being clear, precise, and using language that we and, importantly, our customers and members can understand.
  • Push for better - This is about aiming high and constantly looking for better in how we work together and serve our customers and members.
  • Get it done - This is about prioritising what will have the greatest impact, being decisive and taking accountability for delivering on the end-to-end outcome.

We know applying for jobs can sometimes feel like you’re sending an application into a black hole. We review each application individually. So, it’s a good idea to call out your most relevant experience on your application to give yourself the best chance.

Responsibilities:
