Location: Live on-site Camp Kandalore – Algonquin Highlands
Contract Dates: June 10th – August 26th, 2025, room & board included
Reports to: Assistant Director – Canoe Trip Operations
Founded in 1947 Kandalore has a longstanding reputation as one of Canada’s premier canoe tripping camps. We offer campers an unmatched canoe tripping experience, starting from age 6, with the program designed to gradually introduce new skills and challenges as they get older. Core trippers exclusively paddle whitewater rivers with older campers.
JOB OUTLINE
Camp Kandalore is seeking a positive, adaptable, and detail-oriented individual to join our Trip Department in the role of Trip Director. This individual will be responsible for managing the daily operations of our trip center and enjoys working in a team, problem-solving, and working in a fast-paced environment. The successful applicant will be positive, camper-focused, well-organized, and be a strong communicator, able to cope with a busy summer atmosphere.
Our Trip Director manages our trip center and motivates and leads our Guides in daily tasks and operations. Duties include leading daily meetings, managing incoming/outgoing trips, tracking the inventory, and ensuring integration of our Guides and Tripper Apprentices into the Trip Center and Camp Life.
This position includes subsidized training, access to pro-deals, room and board, canoe trip and management experience, and a fantastic summer at camp
- Minimum Qualifications
- Certified with Wilderness First Responder (Kandalore offers course in the spring)
- Certified with Swift Water Rescue Technician (Kandalore offers course in the spring)
- Bronze Cross or higher is mandatory and no exceptions can be made
- Experience leading canoe trips in remote settings
- Experience with white water canoeing
- Management and Supervisory experience is an asset
- Class G Ontario Driver’s License
- Experience driving a trailer is an asset

Responsibilities:
- Facilitate daily meetings in trip center. Attending senior staff meetings
- Ensure positive morale and team building of the Trip Department
- Manage Trip Kits and Inventory. Submit purchase requests to AD CTO
- With AD CTO facilitates Tripper Training and Senior Staff Training
- Ensure completion of camper debriefs and submit to AD CTO
- Support opening and closing procedures
- Occasionally lead Core and Explorer trips as required
- Take lead on Evacuations and Contacts when AD CTO is off
- Track boat and gear maintenance and repairs
- Support the Shaq and ensure trip kitchen is clean and organized
