Pacer Building Components is hiring an experienced Design and Engineering team member to join our amazing team in Ilderton, Ontario (London). Pacer Building Components (an Atlas Engineered Products (AEP) Company), is one of Canada’s fastest growing, publicly traded, supplier of trusses, windows, doors and engineered products, with manufacturing and distribution facilities throughout the country.
The ideal candidate will be flexible, adaptable, detail-oriented and motivated, with a focus on providing a high degree of external and internal customer service as we grow our team and business!
Our Designers are accountable for producing exceptional roof, floor and wall truss designs including layout drawings, and quotes.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Determining design specifications based on blueprints, structural designs needs, and client requests
  • Communicating with sales and production staff
  • Designing plans that equally balance effectiveness and minimal waste using MiTek software
  • Review project design and drive accurate releases to production and logistics

Qualifications and Experiences:

  • Civil Engineer Degree recommended
  • Expert blueprint reading skills (architecture, structural and mechanical)
  • Experience and knowledge of rough framing and the construction process
  • Command of local and national building codes, structural analysis, and structural engineering
  • Extensive experience in the application of building components and connections of floor and roof systems, the application of floor (I-Joist and LVL), roof and floor (truss) systems and tall walls and other engineered wood products using MiTek software.
  • Ability to provide technical direction for the development of placement plans and quality control
  • Familiarity with product costing
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills including Word and Excel
  • Ability to set realistic objectives
  • Ability to learn, adopt, and apply new technologies, practices and solutions in an effective manner
  • Strong problem solving skills to resolve incomplete, ambiguous project requirements, errors or omissions within blueprints
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Experience with growing companies supporting builders, construction, or multi-site manufacturing organizations would be an asset.
