QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bilingualism (French/English) is required.
  • High school diploma; post secondary or diploma in accounting is an asset.
  • 3 - 5 years related work experience, preferably in a professional services work environment.
  • Knowledge of accounting software and banking procedures; basic knowledge of accounting principles.
  • Ability to communicate with Firm members and external clients in a professional manner, providing outstanding service (internal and external).
  • Capacity to work independently, as well as in a team environment.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of Aderant Expert accounting system will be considered an asset.

Responsibilities:

  • Processing and recording incoming and outgoing trust transactions in our financial management system.
  • Preparing outgoing trust payments by cheque or wire transfer using online banking platforms for multiple banks.
  • Coordinating with Partners, Legal Assistants and Finance Management, the release of trust funds to successfully close deals.
  • Liaising with banks and Partners to ensure trust funds are appropriately invested and redeemed when requested.
  • Adhering to Law Society regulations of the corresponding jurisdictions of the trust transactions.
  • Obeying strict internal control policies to mitigate both external and internal risks and threats facing the Firm.
  • Identifying potentially fraudulent and abnormal requests.
  • Responding to general inquiries from both internal and external sources about policies, procedures, deadlines, and status of trust transactions while monitoring both Firm personal and shared email inboxes.
  • Ensuring timely clearing of unapplied funds.
  • Assisting with the return of dormant trust accounts.
  • Assisting in Trust process improvement projects.
  • Assisting in systems testing for Trust functions.
  • Providing back-up to team members nationally.
  • Other responsibilities as required.
