Description:
There will be commitment to a minimum 2 general cardiology per week as well as a contribution to the general cardiology Specialty Registrar rota (full shift). The successful applicant will also be expected to support inpatient care under the supervision of the consultant team. An expanding research and clinical trials programme is in place in which the successful candidate will be expected to participate fully, with a protected session for research and audit in the timetable. A tailored training programme can be negotiated around this service provision.
LEVELS OF RESPONSIBILITY This will depend upon prior experience and can be discussed. It is expected that the levels of responsibility will be that of ST6 or above, and the successful candidate will receive supervision from a named consultant with responsibility to develop the individuals training e-portfolio or equivalent. TEACHING AND RESEARCH/STUDY AND TRAINING Whilst the advertised post is a Trust Doctor, it is expected that the successful applicant will be able to access opportunities to attend weekly teaching and monthly educational departmental meetings. An expanding research and clinical trials programme is in place, in which the successful candidate will be expected to participate fully, with a protected session for research and audit in the timetable.
Depending on the candidates level of experience and needs, training opportunities can be tailored, including basic angiography and pacing, as well as more complex interventional procedures. The post is fixed term starting February 2025 to cover a period of reduced rotational StR posts. The candidate should have basic skills in echocardiography in order to perform on call duties (LV function, valve assessment and assessment for significant pericardial fluid) at a tertiary cardiac centre
