We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Trust & Estates Paralegal to join our team and contribute to our client-focused approach.

POSITION SUMMARY:

As a Trust & Estates Paralegal , you will support attorneys in estate planning, trust administration, and probate matters. This role involves working closely with high-net-worth individuals and families, ensuring that their estates and trusts are administered with the highest level of professionalism and care. You will assist with managing and preparing essential documents and filings, collaborating with attorneys, and providing exceptional service to clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation and execution of estate planning documents, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and health care directives.
  • Coordinate and manage trust and estate administration tasks, including probate filings, asset transfers, and beneficiary distributions.
  • Draft and file probate pleadings, estate inventories, and accountings.
  • Prepare federal and state estate tax returns, as well as gift tax returns.
  • Manage client relationships by addressing inquiries and providing updates on trust and estate matters.
  • Oversee the maintenance of estate planning files and databases, ensuring organization and compliance with firm standards.
  • Assist in reviewing and summarizing financial documents, tax filings, and trust instruments.
  • Coordinate the valuation and distribution of estate assets, including real estate, securities, and personal property.
  • Collaborate with attorneys to ensure smooth case management and facilitate the timely execution of documents and filings.
  • Conduct legal research on estate administration laws and procedures as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or paralegal certification required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a paralegal in Trust & Estates law.
  • In-depth knowledge of Massachusetts estate planning, probate, and trust administration procedures.
  • Experience with preparing estate tax returns and navigating probate courts in Massachusetts.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple matters concurrently.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal practice management software.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive client matters with discretion.
  • Client-focused with a professional demeanor and a collaborative team-oriented approach.
