Description:

The purpose of this innovative post is to allow a clinician to develop skills in paediatric emergency medicine to develop this as a subspecialty interest and gain skills useful for future paediatric or emergency medicine practice.
This post has been designed primarily for doctors who wish to gain further experience in emergency medicine and paediatrics with a view to pursuing a career in these specialties. The post is also suitable for any trainee looking to gain experience in paediatric emergency medicine.
The successful applicant will be in post for 12 months in the Children’s and Young People’s Emergency Department (CYPED) at University Hospital of North Tees. The job would be mainly based in CYPED including on late shifts and weekends, there would also be time on the rota dedicated to Self Development Time which can be used for study (see below) or in the co-located Urgent Care Centre and the paediatric HDU at the neighbouring Trust to assess a range of severity of paediatric illness and injury.
Funding for two relevant paediatric emergency medicine courses (e.g. APLS/EPLS/ATLS) and the Diploma in Child Health (subject to eligibility) or Postgraduate Certificate on Paedatric Emergency Medicine from Edinburgh University will be made available.
At North Tees & Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust our main priority is, and always will be, to provide safe and high quality care to our patients every day; the kind of care we would want for ourselves and our loved ones. We want our organisation to be the best place to work with the right staff, in the right roles, at the right time, to ensure we deliver exceptional patient care and experience.
We will support staff through providing an inclusive and supportive workplace with health and well-being initiatives, staff benefits and opportunities for personal and professional development. Staff recognition is very important to us; as well as performance reviews and appraisals, we recognise staff through Star and Team of the month, colleague recognition – a note of thanks, Managers Awards, Shining Stars and Service Awards.
