JOB SUMMARY:

We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate IGCSE Computer Science Tutor to join our team at International Junior College. This role involves teaching and guiding students through the IGCSE Computer Science curriculum, ensuring they develop a strong understanding of key concepts and skills required for success in their exams. The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of computer science topics, a track record of effective teaching, and the ability to inspire students in a diverse, international learning environment.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

• Education: A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related field. A teaching qualification is a plus.
• Experience: Proven experience teaching IGCSE Computer Science or a similar curriculum. Experience in an international school setting is highly desirable.
• Subject Expertise: In-depth knowledge of the IGCSE Computer Science syllabus, including programming languages (such as Python, Java, or C++), data structures, algorithms, computer architecture, and networks.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in relevant software, programming environments, and educational tools for teaching and assessment.
• Teaching Skills: Strong classroom management skills, the ability to adapt teaching methods to individual learning styles, and experience in creating engaging lesson plans and assessments.
• Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts in a simple, accessible way.
• Language Skills: Fluency in English, both spoken and written, is required.
• Personal Traits: Patient, approachable, and passionate about helping students succeed in a dynamic, international environment.

• Teach IGCSE Computer Science Curriculum: Deliver engaging lessons on all key topics covered in the IGCSE Computer Science syllabus, including programming, algorithms, data structures, computer systems, networks, and databases.
• Create Lesson Plans & Resources: Develop clear, comprehensive lesson plans and resources that align with the IGCSE curriculum, ensuring students meet learning objectives.
• Prepare Students for Exams: Provide tailored support for students in preparation for IGCSE exams, including practice tests, review sessions, and exam techniques.
• Individualized Instruction: Offer personalized tutoring and mentoring to students based on their needs, helping them understand complex concepts, troubleshoot code, and improve their problem-solving skills.
• Assessment & Feedback: Regularly assess students’ progress through assignments, projects, and quizzes. Provide constructive feedback and adjust teaching methods as needed.
• Encourage Critical Thinking & Application: Foster an environment where students apply their knowledge to real-world problems, encouraging creativity and logical thinking.
• Stay Updated on Curriculum Changes: Keep up-to-date with any changes to the IGCSE Computer Science syllabus and adapt teaching methods accordingly.
• Collaborate with Faculty: Work closely with other teachers, administrative staff, and parents to monitor student progress and ensure holistic support.
