THE POSITION

The Design Group, a vital part of our Pre-Development Department, is actively engaged in OEM and Replacement projects, specializing in tread pattern and cavity design. We are currently seeking a highly skilled Tyre Designer to join our dynamic team. This position involves critical responsibilities across both European and US markets.The Tyre Designer will be responsible for the design of tyre tread patterns and cavities, translating market needs and technical requirements into innovative tyre designs that meet high performance standards.

The work will mainly consist of the following general activities and responsibilities:

  • Design and develop tyre cavities and tread patterns, including pitch sequences.
  • Ensure designs adhere to Apollo Design Rules and support patentability and freedom to operate for new designs.
  • Develop and validate scaling rules for cavities and tread patterns.
  • Collaborate with the Design Manager to define and deliver the design plan with a technical focus.
  • Contribute to the D-FMEA process and develop tread design concepts that optimize tyre performance for noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH).
  • Utilize advanced software tools such as 2D CAD, 3D Creo, and Catia for design purposes and PST tool and Silent Roll for simulations.
  • Deliver design inputs for mould drawings and develop prototypes for virtual and physical testing.

Additional, secondary tasks and activities related to the position:

  • Conduct research on tyre patterns and cavity contours to enhance tyre performance.
  • Stay updated on technological advancements in tyre design.
  • Render concept proposals and coordinate testing of new designs as required.
