UAE Leader will be responsible for managing the overall operations of the Medtronic business in UAE. The role is responsible for achieving the commercial objectives, managing the P&L, building relationships with key customers, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality products and services to the market. Most of the time is spent overseeing the area of responsibility, managing performance, talent development, diversity and inclusion, communication business and operational developments, planning, prioritizing and directing the responsibilities of employees.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

Strategic Planning and Execution:

  • Develop and implement country and account-level strategies, value propositions, and go-to-market (GTM) plans.
  • Identify new revenue and commercial opportunities and address potential blind spots to ensure comprehensive Medtronic representation.
  • Help prepare the ground for the Go-Direct / Hybrid Model where applicable.
  • Support the region and IC (Indirect Channel) lead teams whenever required.
  • Liaise with other enablers to “connect the dots” and drive EMEA RLM-wide strategies for IM (Indirect Markets).

Performance Monitoring and Alignment:

  • Conduct quarterly pulse checks and sessions with IC leads to ensure strategic alignment with objectives and identify rapid response needs.
  • Lead quarterly business reviews (BR) with all key distributors.

Cross-functional Collaboration:

  • Serve as the primary contact for cross-functional projects and information exchange with Strategic Marketing Enterprise (SME) and Strategic Account Accelerators (SAA) enablers.
  • Liaise with the SME team to understand portfolio strategies and their implications for the assigned team.
  • Oversee new product/market introductions, sales training programs, key surgeons/key account visit and attendance at key industry congresses and meetings.

Channel Partner Optimization:

  • Drive the optimization of key channel partners, focusing on performance across all represented Operating Units, market share growth, and inventory levels.
  • Provide strategy and direction for ongoing business development, implementation of marketing plans, development of sales and market development objectives and tools, and growth of the business for the region.

Distributor Management:

ICE Strategies and Growth Objectives:

  • Own the ICE strategies agenda and growth objectives, defining channel strategies for the country.
  • Design recommendations concerning development, consolidation, non-renewal, or conversion (Go-Direct) of existing channel partners, and search and onboard new distributors.

Distributor Relations:

  • Manage distributor relations, including appointments, terminations, non-renewals, and consolidations.
  • Align with other departments on accounts receivable (AR), inventory, tax, compliance, and legal guidelines.
  • Lead regular business reviews with Indirect Channel Partners.
  • Supervise the segmentation of markets and channel partners, as well as performance monitoring and evaluation plans in partnership with the ICE department.
  • Implement SOP guidelines with all Indirect Channel Partners.
  • Increase visibility within the region for reliable distributors and backup readiness.

Commercial and Legal Alignment:

  • Align with regional and commercial teams on strategies, priorities, and initiatives.
  • Control and monitor the execution of contracts, using commercial tools and leading the price strategy per account in accordance with country price strategies per product category.

Business Development:

  • Obtain and share market needs and opportunities related to the country and the go-direct model, including distributor and client needs.
  • Gather and assess wide-scale healthcare transformation and mega-modernization programs in collaboration with the Ministry of Health (MoH) and distributors on the ground.
  • Promote the Medtronic portfolio with distributors and clients, encompassing market research, training, and presentations.
  • Leverage Medtronic government affairs to establish strong relationships with healthcare authorities, policymakers, payers, providers, and financing institutions personnel.

Customer Engagement and Feedback:

  • Promote and establish education about Medtronic’s products and services.
  • Conduct market research, including customer and competitor activities.
  • Implement market development plans and strategies, making changes as needed.
  • Communicate customer feedback on new products and modifications to existing products or applications to internal stakeholders, including R&D, Operations, and Marketing.

Required Knowledge and Experience:

  • A bachelor’s degree and minimum of 20 years of relevant sales experience or advanced degree with a minimum 15 years of relevant sales and leadership
  • Broad sales, business development and management and leadership knowledge to lead multiple job areas within the region.
  • Broad understanding of organizational context and comprehensive knowledge of the market sector and environment.
  • Ability to build and develop high performance and cohesive teams. Experience in leading and motivating a team of commercial professionals.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • System Thinking & Ability to make complex simple.
  • Learning Agility.
  • Familiarity with local regulations.
  • Fluency in English and Arabic languages.
  • Ability to travel 50%+ of the time.
