GENERAL INFORMATION:

The University Career Center’s mission is to “prepare and empower all students in every aspect of their career development.” We are seeking an Operations Student Assistant to provide general office support 8-10 hours per week.

QUALIFICATIONS:

A successful applicant should:
Be a current full-time JMU student through Spring 2025
Be available to work 8-10 hours a week during our business hours, Monday-Friday 8am-5pm
(We are looking for students who have availability to work Tuesday/Thursday morning between the hours of 8am-11am)
Be detail oriented, organized, positive, and reliable.
Be able to work independently.
Have experience with Windows and Microsoft Office.
Be willing to learn new skills required to complete job responsibilities.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Students must be degree-seeking students, enrolled on at least a half-time basis (6 credits for undergraduate and 5 credits for graduate).
Students must have a 2.0 or better cumulative GPA.

Responsibilities:

The Operations Student Assistant will:
Provide front desk coverage in the University Career Center office
Greet students as they arrive and answer phones.
Provide great customer service to students, families, and others who come in to UCC or call.
Schedule student appointments with UCC Career Advisors.
Conduct LinkedIn research and phone calls on JMU graduates’ career outcomes (their first job or graduate program after graduation).
Approve job and internship postings in Handshake.
Provide administrative support to UCC staff as needed with office projects.
Provide programmatic support for UCC events such as the Career Closet, Career Fairs, etc.
