The UK Defence & Security Exports (UKDSE) in the Department for Business and Trade (DBT) is responsible for working with the UK’s defence and security sector to achieve export success and drive inward investment. The team works closely across Whitehall to deliver strong and coherent government support to industry.
This post provides support and guidance to UK based defence and security companies with their export market objectives.
The UKDSE SME Engagement team is situated within the Operations Directorate. The team’s work is a key part of DBT’s front-line delivery of support to SMEs in the UK defence & security sector to help them grow their export potential.
The successful candidate will work to further the SME Engagement agenda in UKDSE in line with the SME Deliver Strategy. This will include raising awareness of SME support available by arranging and managing UKDSE attendance at a number of UK Events, supporting teams across UKDSE with overseas Trade Missions, managing the day-to-day function of the UKDSE Capability Database, facilitating closer working engagement with International Trade Advisors (ITAs), and developing new initiatives in close collaboration with teams across UKDSE and other UK Government departments (incl. MoD, DASA, FCDO, HO etc).
JOB DESCRIPTION
The role will include:
Managing UKDSE attendance at key UK Events to include:
- Working with the event organiser to arrange our stand presence
- Arranging speaker presentation slots
- Arrange and facilitate meetings with UK SME exhibitors
- Dealing with all relevant supporting event logistics
Management of the SME UK Capability Database to include GDPR compliance.
- Ensure all communication to SMEs is GDPR compliant
Delivery of the UKDSE SME Engagement agenda to include:
- Sign posting SMEs for appropriate support
- Support on site at selected events (ie., meet the buyer)
- Presenting the UKDSE offer to SMEs and intermediaries
Support UKDSE teams with the organisation of overseas Trade Missions.
Regular engagement with ITAs (International Trade Advisers) to ensure closer collaboration and engagement with their SME clients.
Additional duties depending on business needs.
