Responsibilities:

Uncertainty?… Sound intriguing? Whilst this role title may sound a bit ‘uncertain’ in terms of titles one thing is crystal clear… Natural gas is going nowhere, and as we strive for net zero transition, keeping industry powered and the lights on when the wind doesn’t blow, we are looking for a highly focused individual that can punch above their weight and help us unlock key parts of our investment programme.
If you like operating in a dynamic, fast paced and rewarding role that will regularly take you outside your comfort zone, look no further. The personal development in this role is huge.
UM’s are regulatory trigger points that allow us to re-open parts of our business plan and seek additional allowances. These are controlled changes to our allowed revenues to be made during the price control once the uncertainty has reduced. As a UM Programme Manager, you will play a pivotal role in refining that uncertainty and knitting the fabric of our proposals together across a wide range of complex scenarios. Additional revenues being sought are for key gas transmission infrastructure projects that will have major impact to the future operation of the network and help shape the landscape that facilitates the transition to net zero, including integration of hydrogen and CCUS.
We’re looking for someone like you to ensure we’re meeting our regulatory requirements from Ofgem. But more than that we need someone who can understand and solve complex problems, get into the detail then zoom right out and brief the Executive Directors, the COO and CFO on how we are performing. The portfolios you’ll lead on will typically be in the range of £50m to £300m and require interface with almost all internal stakeholders: Engineering, Finance, Procurement, Safety, Regulation, Operations, Construction…you name it…everyone is involved, led by you as the key person carrying the ‘golden thread’ for the investment to ‘make it happen’. Externally you will be working closely with regulatory bodies.
As the accountable lead for a portfolio of UM projects, you’ll use your experience in building teams to help coordinate, calibrate, facilitate, and identify risks. Your experience in managing large, complex projects enables you to take an adaptable approach, working with internal and external stakeholders to with the aim of delivering for our customers and the UK economy.
Some travel will be part of the job – we have a national portfolio. You’ll travel to the Warwick office a couple of times a week as well as visiting other sites as and when required with home working in-between. Therefore, it’s essential you hold a full UK driving licence.
