About the role
We are recruiting an Undergraduate Faculty Tutor to join our team. The post holder will be the personal tutor for a set group of students, and will hold regular in-person and online meetings with these students. They will provide additional and structured support for undergraduate students’ studies, develop their understanding of our support mechanisms and services, and facilitate meaningful and quality conversations that will enhance their student experience. The collection and analysis of data pertaining to student engagement and success is also central to the role, as is the development of resources and processes to support this.
We are seeking candidates with teaching experience or experience of supporting academic development in either a higher or further education institution. You will be highly organised, motivated, and able to work well in a team as well as independently with limited supervision. You will have a good understanding of the student lifecycle, safeguarding protocols, and experience of dealing with students who may be navigating complex difficulties, signposting to appropriate counselling and wellbeing services when appropriate.
The role sits alongside a community of academic personal tutors who have responsibility for a certain number of undergraduates and our postgraduates. The post-holder will work closely with the Student Support Manager as well as a range of central teams. The role is part of our 6-person Student Experience team, which oversees student support, education enhancement and community engagement initiatives.
The role of Undergraduate Faculty Tutor will be offered on a fixed term, full time (35 hours per week) contract, which is part of a three-year pilot of professionalised personal tutoring, with the contract ending in July 2026. We may look to extend the role, based on the outcomes of the pilot.
