Hanna Health Centre is searching for an undergraduate nursing employee (UNE) to provide care in a medical inpatient acute care setting. The Hanna Health Centre is comprised of a 24-hour Emergency Department, a 17-bed Acute Care ward, and a 61-bed Long Term Care facility. You must be able to work in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team and have the ability to assess, coordinate, administer and evaluate provision of health services. Demonstration of current nursing knowledge, efficiency, communication and team skills are required. You will accept responsibility for continuing competences through ongoing professional development, including participation in education and orientation and continuous quality improvement activities. You will follow nursing standards/protocols as required. The UNE is accountable for providing safe nursing care to patients in accordance with their formal nursing education preparation and competency. Hanna is located 199 km from Red Deer, with a population of 2,673. The town offers its residents a friendly, safe, and small-town lifestyle. Hanna residents benefit from a wide variety of amenities within the town, such as the Aquatic Centre for swimming, Centennial Place for fitness and other activities, and two lakes within 15 kilometers of the town where residents can waterski or enjoy the sandy beaches. There is also the Agri-Sports Complex where residents can skate, play hockey, or curl. Description:

The Undergraduate Nursing Employee (UNE) position provides an opportunity for the nursing student employed as a UNE to consolidate the knowledge and skill acquired in their approved nursing education program towards competency in the range and complexity of Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN) practice. The UNE is an unregulated member of the collaborative health care team who provides patient centred care with the supervision of the RN or RPN. The nursing activities performed, and level of supervision required are determined by legislation, standards of supervision outlined by regulatory colleges, Alberta Health Services (AHS) policy, educational preparation, practice setting, complexity of the patient, level of risk involved, and competency of the UNE.
