Rainy River Mine
Situated in beautiful northwestern Ontario, 65 km northwest of Fort Frances, the Rainy River Mine is an open pit, gold and silver producing, residential mine site.
The Rainy River Mine, located adjacent to the Ontario / Minnesota border is 65 Kilometers northwest of Fort Frances, Ontario and is situated half way between Winnipeg, Manitoba and Thunder Bay, Ontario The area is home to more than 130 species of birds and large populations of moose, black bear and deer. If you enjoy outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, winter sports and lake country then this is an area you will love to live and work in.
About The Role
Schedule: 14 days in & 14 days off - 12 hours per day, 6:00am - 6:00pm (FIFO)
Position Reports To: Senior Underground Mining Engineer

POSITION OVERVIEW:

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a student who wants to gain valuable mine site experience in all facets of mining engineering for a 8 or 12 month internship commencing in January 2025.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Current enrolment in a Canadian-accredited undergraduate mining engineering program.
Excellent communication and people skills (oral, written, listening)
Exposure to mine planning computer software and excel (Deswik preferred)
Ability to work effectively in a team setting.
Positive attitude & eagerness to learn.

Responsibilities:

Work alongside the Mine Planning team in producing development, stoping and drill and blast designs following engineering best practices and standards.
Assist ventilation technicians in conducting ventilation surveys and determining ventilation requirements.
Gain exposure in underground survey techniques and assist in cavity monitor surveys of the workings.
Gain exposure in underground rock mechanics and assist with pull tests underground.
