We are currently seeking an Underground Mine Operations Field Engineer to join our Underground Operations Team at our remote mine site in Voisey’s Bay, Labrador, a fly-in fly-out operation.

Responsibilities:

  • Collect, document and assess engineering data within the mine to improve efficiency;
  • Research, test and install new technology to improve safety and production;
  • Consult with geologists and engineers about the design, selection and provision of machines, facilities and systems for mining, and infrastructure such as access roads, water and power supplies;
  • Liaise and coordinate with the operations supervisor to ensure there is proper implementation of the plans;
  • Ensure adherence to mining regulations, including the proper use and care of explosives, and the correct ventilation to allow the removal of dust and gases;
  • Use software provided to assist with calculations, prepare budget and cost forecasting/reporting estimates on the cost of the operation and control expenditure when mines come into production;
  • Provide input for cost development and life of mine scheduling
