Description:

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Reporting to the Manager of Surgical Outpatient Clinics, the successful candidate will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team within the Outpatient Ambulatory Care Clinics, which includes the Ambulatory Care Unit, Medical Referral Rapid Clinic and Infectious Disease services, Pre-Op, Fracture Clinic, The Shoulder Centre and Rapid Access Clinic.
The incumbent is responsible for facilitating patient flow through the outpatient clinic areas and will act as a liaison to staff, patients and physician offices. Primary duties will include patient registration, reception, transcribing Doctors’ orders, booking tests, assisting with staffing, managing patient charts, maintaining clinic statistics, ordering supplies and replacing sick calls and other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS;

  • Medical Office Administration Diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of patient related database systems (Meditech for scheduling and admitting, PACs, OnBase, Novari) required;
  • Proven knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel (tested - basic level);
  • Demonstrated experience in managing complex clinic schedules;
  • Proven knowledge of medical terminology (tested);
  • Proven keyboarding skills of 35 wpm (tested);
  • Previous experience in transcribing doctor’s orders;
  • Demonstrated experience liaising with external agencies and physician offices;
  • Evidence of sound organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to work well in stressful situations;
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with patients, families, all levels of staff and the community;
  • Ability to work well independently and to exercise sound judgment;
  • Ability to perform essential duties of the position;
  • Demonstrates commitment to ongoing education and learning;
  • Demonstrates a commitment to customer service when dealing with patients, colleagues, volunteers and other members of the community and public;
  • Must have satisfactory performance record;
