QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school graduate
- Knowledge of Medical Terminology
- Successful completion of all orientation programs
SCHEDULING REQUIREMENTS:
- Shift- 5:30am- 1:30pm
- Monday-Friday with every other weekends/holidays
- Full Time
Responsibilities:
- Assumes responsibility for the preparation of admission, pre-op/post-op, transfer & discharge charts, assuring all papers are properly labeled with the appropriate patient information and taken to Medical Records at the end of the shift
- Completes all Consults. Routinely checks and completes activities and interventions in the Cerner Clinical Information System
- Maintains accurate attending physician information
- Assumes responsibility for the maintenance of charts including stocking with Admission Face sheets and patient labels
- Ensures all papers are properly labeled and in proper order
- Provides initialed status report daily
- Updates call bell log throughout the shift
- Using rounding with intention behaviors, follows up on portal invitations on all new admissions and offers to assist activating the patients portal account
- Enters the vocera staff assignments in the computer at the start of the shift
- Assists with the training and orientation of new personnel to the clerical routine
- Processes allergy, falls prevention, DNR status in accordance w/proper procedure
- Assists with the training and orientation of new personnel to the clerical routine
- Answers the telephone and intercom using the patients name and their name and routes all requests appropriately, using the vocera as is protocol to locate hospital personnel
- Handles non-nursing requests & complaints (i.e. phone requests, meal requests, engineering requests, visitor/family member requests)
- Maintains patient status on the nursing units by discharging & transferring patients off the unit within 15 minutes of departure
- Adheres to the department & Medical Center policies regarding dress code
- Adheres to the department policy regarding break time
- Completes the Communication Sheet, leaving pertinent follow up information for the next Unit Representative
- Checks accuracy in SMS for patient types and service every shift and makes appropriate changes
