Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred. The ability to motivate or influence others is a material part of the job, requiring a significant level of diplomacy and trust. Each individual should feel empowered to provide the highest level of service possible that puts all of our members first. The Universal Associate should be internally motivated and able to function in an independent manner as it relates to product knowledge. A friendly and energetic disposition is required for success in this position. Be able to tactfully question and actively listen to members and employees to determine specific needs and answer those needs. Communicate clearly and concisely in verbal and written form. Must have the knowledge and ability to apply effective member service and proper phone etiquette skills. Must be accurate in handling of cash and recording daily transactions. Develop well rounded knowledge of all departments, know how and to whom to refer members, as needed.
EDUCATION OR FORMAL TRAINING
High school diploma or equivalent training/experience.
EXPERIENCE
Previous sales or customer service experience preferred. Banking or loan experience preferred.

Responsibilities:
GENERAL PURPOSE
The Universal Associate serves as the liaison between CCU and new and existing members to assist them with their short and long term financial needs and goals through exceptional service and a positive and friendly consultative approach. They are responsible for providing account information, performing teller transactions in accordance with credit union policies and procedures, originating and processing new account and consumer loan applications, building rapport with members and professionally handling any member needs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Connect members to the branch by greeting them, facilitating their physical orientation to the branch and guiding them on the usage of the technology in the branch and additional services such as online or mobile banking and remote deposit capture.
- Be well versed in products and services in order to be comfortable and enthusiastic about speaking with our members on the products/services that will best meet that members needs.
- Possess the sales skills and positive energy towards the accomplishment of monthly and annual branch goals. Develop ongoing referrals to other areas of business in the Credit Union (mortgages, business accounts, financial planning, etc.)
- Develop loyal member relationships by identifying and understanding needs, providing sound advice and tailoring the right financial solutions to each member.
- Demonstrate initiative, a commitment to continuous learning and the ability to adapt to changing demands and requirements.
- Process any and all types of teller transactions in a timely and accurate manner or refer to the appropriate staff member.
- Process deposits/payments received in person or by mail. Verify items for accuracy, examine checks for endorsement and negotiability.
- Respond and follow up daily to member inquiries to provide forms, resolve problems or answer questions.
- Process all new account and loan applications and correspondence immediately or as otherwise in accordance with Credit Union standards.
- Consult with loan applicants for requested loan as well as other potential future financial needs.
- Responsible for opening new accounts, originating and processing loan applications, handling loan closings, opening CDs and IRAs in accordance with the Credit Unions policies and procedures.
- Assist branch management in all matters including, but not limited to, compliance, policies and procedures, balancing, branch audits, monthly tracking reports and member service issues.
- Complete accurate and timely required Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) documentation in compliance with BSA policies and procedures, to include, but not limited to, new account and wire procedures, OFAC, CTR and SAR.
- Remain in compliance with all company, state and federal rules and regulations.
- Support promotions and strategies to meet Credit Unions goals.
- Participate in Credit Union business development and community relations activities.
- Attendance must be kept in accordance with CCUs standards and not affect member service or branch performance.
- Adhere to all service standards as outlined in the Credit Unions policies and procedures.
- Ensures that lending operations are conducted in accordance with established Credit Union policies, procedures, approval authority and all fair lending laws (i.e. Equal Credit Opportunity Act , Consumer Credit Protection Act, Truth In Lending Act, Fair Housing Act and Home Mortgage Disclosure Act, etc). Ensures compliance with the non-discrimination provisions of applicable fair lending laws and regulations.
