Description:
POSITION SUMMARY
Our goal is to advance retinal research, offer new treatment opportunities to our community, and provide
the highest quality patient care. Austin Retina Associates is seeking curious and patient-focused
individuals for a Clinical Research Assistant role. Our ideal candidate is passionate about patient care
and is primarily responsible for assisting in research patient visits according to ICH-GCP guidelines and
according to the IRB-approved study protocol and/or manual of procedures.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND REQUIREMENTS
Prolonged standing and walking, some sitting, talking and hearing both in person and by telephone; use hands to finger, handle and feel objects or controls; reach with hands and arms. Regularly required to stoop, kneel, bend, crouch and lift up to 40 pounds on occasion. Specific vision abilities required by this job includes viewing multiple computer screens, close vision, distance vision, depth perception, color vision and the ability to adjust focus. Viewing images and operating computer devices constantly.

Responsibilities:
- Perform required training and obtain applicable certifications to participate in specific study
protocols as unmasked research assistant to include GCP, IATA and all required protocol-specific
training modules
- Assist Unmasked Coordinators in monitoring patient flow, assisting in patient care and
management
- Observe, assist, collect and record all necessary data
- Will observe, assist in receiving, dispensing and destruction of IP
- Ensure treatment rooms are fully stocked with ancillary supplies each day
- Observe Coordinator explain treatment processes and procedures to study patients
- Set up and assist in administration of patient treatment as required per study protocol and
pharmacy/procedure manual
- Promptly report treatment-related Adverse Events including medication errors to an appropriate
unmasked coordinator
- Perform intraocular pressure checks after injections and document post-injection evaluation per
protocol of treating investigator
- Assist in performing post-treatment procedures including finger count, hand motion, light
perception
- Will train to become certified to perform refraction and vision testing
- Ensure instruments used by UM team are accounted for, calibrated and properly sterilized
- Other duties assigned on an as needed basis delegated by Study protocol/Supervisor
