Description:
Providence Country Day School, an independent school serving students in grades PK-12, seeks an experienced, enthusiastic educator to fill a full-time substitute role teaching Upper School Chemistry from late October through approximately the end of November / first week of December 2024. The substitute will teach two sections of Upper School Chemistry and two sections of Honors Chemistry at the high school level and will also cover other typical faculty responsibilities such as acting as temporary advisor for a small group of 10th grade students, proctoring study halls and covering lunch duty.
PCD follows the “Physics First’’ sequence in the Upper School with students learning conceptual physics in 9th grade, chemistry in 10th, and biology in 11th. The Chemistry Instructor is expected to effectively plan and conduct activities using the curriculum provided by the current teacher for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and active student engagement that encourages students to observe, question, investigate and problem solve. Our classrooms at PCD are dynamic spaces for our students where we foster mutual respect, inclusivity and positive reinforcement through instruction that effectively engages students with a variety of learning styles.
Qualified candidates will have a bachelor’s degree (or higher).
Candidates of color, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply. We strive to have a team that reflects the diversity of our students and families. It is important to us that our students can see themselves in the adults that surround them each day. PCD is an affirmative action, equal opportunity employer.
Interested candidates should submit a resume, cover letter, and three references to Diane Palazzo at palazzo@providencecountryday.org
