Job Description
Invoke is looking for a User Research Director to join the team. The ideal candidate will be an advocate for the player’s perspective and voice, a builder, a great communicator, someone organized, self-driven and that has a deep understanding of the user insight’s principles.
What you’ll do
-

Develop and execute a comprehensive User Research strategy that aligns with the project’s goals and objectives

  • Lead all aspects of our studio’s player experience research including gameplay and feature usability, playtesting and feedback strategy
  • Support the teams in their decision making to address issues
  • Develop and oversee strategies to attract and recruit players for the playtests
  • Lead efforts to identify and define player behaviors and personas to assist our team in developing better-informed and more engaging experiences
  • Work closely with the production team and other stakeholders to understand project goals and ensure research aligns with development needs and recommendations
  • Design and create comprehensive user research studies, including usability testing, playtesting, surveys, interviews, etc.
  • Operate and manage the internal play test lab and develop partnerships externally where relevant
  • Advocate for the player perspective throughout the development process
  • Synthesize insights to inform the production team, balancing player satisfaction with business objectives
  • Experience in setting up and monitoring a budget within agreed delivery deadlines
  • Connect with other internal video game studios to develop the UX research capabilities.

What you’ll bring
-

Experience building sophisticated User Research and play-testing research strategy in the video game industry

  • Specialization in data and analytics to generate reports and pitch optimizations or improvements that increase player adoption and engagement
  • Deep understanding and experience with user research methods, personas, user flows, and information architecture
  • Experience managing UX research for multiple titles
  • Passion for emerging player, product, genre, and industry trends to identify potential design opportunities and enhance business performance
  • Expertise with data structures, statistical analysis, and reporting platforms
  • Critical decisions informed by data and supported by research but can balance it with understanding of good design intuition & creativity
  • Incredible problem-solving skills, and ability to empower others to find solutions in new situations or fluid and dynamic environments
  • Organizational and management skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Proven ability to lead and develop a high-performing team
  • Excellent communication skills in French and English.
