We are looking to recruit an experienced USV Operator to join our team based in Dubai, UAE. In this role, you will play a critical role in managing and operating Unmanned Surface Vehicles (USVs) within Fugro’s remote and autonomous fleet. This position entails not only piloting the USVs but also ensuring thorough maintenance and functionality of all onboard systems to support safe and efficient operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the USV Chief Operator in piloting USVs for various missions, adhering to predefined operational protocols.
- Conduct regular maintenance checks and repairs on USVs and associated equipment to ensure operational readiness and safety.
- Follow strict compliance with all operational, environmental, and QHSSE safety policies in line with local and international regulations.
- Execute tasks under the direction of the Senior USV Operator, Lead Survey Operator, or Site Supervisor, ensuring consistency and precision in mission execution.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive records, reports, and certification documentation.
- Participate actively in emergency response drills and continuous training to enhance personal and team preparedness for operational contingencies.
- Assist with the navigation, launch, recovery of payloads, and upkeep of navigational and survey equipment.
- Ensure effective handovers and consistent communication with incoming and outgoing shifts, maintaining operational continuity.
- Uphold the organization’s “stop the job” policy to address potential risks and ensure a safe working environment.
What Skills & Experience Will You Have?
- Relevant STCW certifications and additional USV-specific training.
- Certificates of Competence for vessel operation.
- RADAR/ARPA and ECDIS certifications.
- GMDSS General Operator certificate.
- Proficient with the Company USV Training Matrix.
- Excellent command of English, both written and verbal.
- In-depth understanding of maritime codes, guidelines, and standards.
- Proven ability to handle and maintain complex maritime equipment.
Additional Skills:
- Strong technical and mechanical skills to perform regular maintenance and troubleshoot issues.
- Excellent teamwork and communication capabilities.
- Committed to maintaining high safety and quality standards.
- Ability to adapt to changing conditions and operational demands.
Working Conditions:
- Role involves working in variable environmental conditions and may require flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
- May require travel to different operational sites for training or mission-related tasks.
